What is Guided Biofilm Therapy?
GBT is the result of years of clinical research by Switzerland’s EMS Medical in collaboration with leading experts. It is a comfortable, fast, and safe method designed to keep your teeth and gums healthy.
Unlike conventional polishing, GBT does not damage teeth or miss hidden pockets of biofilm. A harmless disclosing dye is used to make biofilm visible, allowing clinicians to precisely remove it using advanced tools such as AIRFLOW®, PERIOFLOW® and PIEZON®.
These technologies use warm water, air, and AIRFLOW® PLUS erythritol powder to gently clean teeth, significantly reducing the need for traditional hand or ultrasonic scaling – and eliminating the gritty polish at the end of your appointment.
Removing 100% of biofilm is essential. Nearly invisible, this bacteria builds up daily, turning sugar into acids that cause tooth decay and can contribute to gum disease, tooth loss, diabetes, cardiovascular and respiratory disease, stroke, Alzheimer’s, cancer, and more.
By making biofilm visible and removing it thoroughly, GBT helps protect both your oral and overall health.
