Composite Fillings

At some point, most people develop cavities in their teeth as a result of decay. This decay needs to be removed and the resulting space carefully cleaned and filled in with a durable, protective material.

Composite fillings, along with silver amalgam fillings, are the most widely used today. Because composite fillings are tooth-coloured, they can be closely matched to your existing teeth, rendering them essentially invisible. They are aesthetically excellent for your front teeth or the visible areas of other teeth.

The resin used in a composite filling bonds directly with your tooth, strengthening its structure and preventing further decay. The strength provided by the resin allows Dr. Gordon to remove less of your tooth’s existing healthy structure than what is required for metal-based fillings. The composite filling is precisely placed, shaped and polished, restoring your tooth to its original form and function.

Composite fillings can usually be completed in one appointment. Composite fillings are very durable – usually lasting from six to 12 years – and will provide you with a long lasting smile!
